VCH
A sharp pinch, over in a second. It goes through the hood, not the clitoris.
The bar passes through the hood, not the clitoris. Placed correctly it is a sharp pinch that is over in a second, and most people find it easier than they expected. Correct placement is the whole of it: a well placed VCH in anatomy that suits heals with very little drama.
A curved titanium bar, the sort sometimes called a banana barbell. The curve follows the anatomy of the hood. The thickness is chosen at the look. It is shortened at your checkup once the swelling has gone, and the checkup is free.
It needs enough depth in the hood for the bar to rest there. Tom checks that at the look.
A VCH needs a hood with enough tissue to support it: enough depth for the bar to rest against the hood rather than against the clitoris. Tom checks that at the look, with a cotton bud, in a private room. It takes a moment and there is no guessing involved.
Most people with a defined hood are suitable. Anatomy varies, and if yours does not suit it, Tom will say so at the look rather than at the chair. Nothing is booked before that is settled, and the piercing is not priced until it is.
Four to six weeks to settle, and two to three months to heal fully.
Four to six weeks to settle, and two to three months to heal fully. The mucosal tissue of the hood heals faster than skin does. What you do in the first four to six weeks makes most of the difference.
Rinse once a day under warm running water and pat dry with a clean paper towel. Nothing else goes on it. Leave the jewellery completely still and do not turn it.
Wait four to six weeks at least before sex, then use barrier protection while it finishes healing. A new piercing is a temporary path an infection can travel along.
No swimming until it is healed. Pools, hot tubs, rivers and the sea all wait. A shower is fine.

Talk first, then the piercing
- Book a look. Thirty minutes, in person, with Tom.
- A private room. You talk it through, and Tom checks whether your anatomy suits it.
- You get the price, and nothing is decided on the day.
- If it suits, you book the piercing, and the $30 comes off.
- Is it private?

- Wait four to six weeks at least, then use barrier protection while it finishes healing.

Is this normal?
Crust that is clear, straw or white-yellow, tenderness for the first week or two, a little redness right around it and some itching as it settles are all healing.
Tell us about thick green or yellow pus rather than crust, heat and swelling that get worse after the first week, redness spreading away from the piercing, pain that is growing rather than easing, or a fever.
If you have a fever, or redness is spreading away from the piercing, see your GP or an after-hours clinic that day and tell them it is a healing piercing. Then let us know.
