What we know about you, and why.

A piercing is a medical-adjacent thing done to your body, so we have to ask you some personal questions. This is all of them, where the answers go, and how to get them back.

What we ask for

Booking

Your name, and a mobile or an email so we can reach you. What you are booking, when, and with whom.

The conversation

If you book through the chat on this site, what you type is part of your booking. Tom reads them.

Your consent form

Your name, your date of birth, and the health questions on the form: bleeding disorders, diabetes, immune and heart conditions, allergies, pregnancy. Your signature. For a child, a parent or guardian’s details too.

Before your visit

The pre-visit form, if you fill it in, and anything you tell us about a piercing that is not healing as it should.

If you buy a gift card

The buyer’s name and email, and the recipient’s, so it can be sent.

Visiting the site

Which pages you looked at, roughly where in the world you are, and what brought you here. Not your name, unless you give it to us.

We ask for a health history because some conditions change how a piercing is done, or whether it should be done at all. If you would rather tell Tom or Kat in person than write it down, say so.

Who else sees it

Platinum Point is Tom and Kat. Nobody else here reads your records. The companies below hold or handle your information because the site runs on their services, and most of them are overseas, which means your information goes there too.

Google

The database the booking system runs on, and the measurement on this site.

Netlify

Hosts the site and runs the small programs behind the booking form.

Anthropic

Answers the chat. Your conversation is sent to their model to write a reply. It is not used to train it.

Resend

Sends your confirmation and reminder emails.

Stripe

Takes the payment when someone buys a gift card. We never see the card number.

Measurement services

So we know which pages people use and which advertising works.

We do not sell your information, and we do not give it to anyone else to advertise to you.

Children

We pierce ears from age five, with a parent or guardian in the room. The consent form is signed by the adult, and a child’s record belongs to them: a parent can see it and correct it while the child is young, and the child can when they are older.

Seeing it, changing it, or having it deleted

You can ask us what we hold about you, and we will tell you. You can ask us to correct anything that is wrong. You can ask us to delete it, and we will unless we are required to keep it. Write to info@platinumpoint.nz or call 09 949 0940, and ask for Tom.

If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Measurement, and turning it off

This site counts page views and which links get used, so we know what is worth writing. If you would rather not be counted, turn on Do Not Track or use your browser’s private mode, and use the cookie controls in your browser to block third-party cookies.
