Aseptic technique, trained formally, not by a mentor.
I learnt sterile technique to a clinical standard before I pierced anyone. Here’s what that means for your piercing.
Learnt at the University of Auckland, and formally validated.
I trained in aseptic technique at the University of Auckland and passed three formal validation levels. I worked as a Clinical Trials Aseptic Pharmacy Technician in hospital settings, where sterilisation has no margin for error.
Most piercers learn sterile technique on the job. I learnt it to a clinical standard.

What that means at your appointment
- The roomOne client at a time. Forty-five minutes, and the door is locked.
- Your pieceEvery tool and every piece of jewellery is sterilised here, during your appointment.
- GlovesSterile gloves, for every piercing.
- The needleA needle, never a gun. Single-use and sterile, opened in front of you.
- The autoclaveTested every week.

What goes in, and what it costs
Everything in a fresh piercing is implant-grade titanium or solid gold. No plated metal, no mystery steel.
The price covers the piercing, the jewellery, your aftercare and the checkup four weeks later. Nothing is added at the chair.
Ask your piercer how they learnt sterile technique.
If you’re seeing someone new, it’s a fair question, and a good piercer won’t mind it.
Something more private?
Genital piercings are with Tom. First, a $30 look in a private room, which comes off the piercing. Nothing is decided before you have talked.
Full draping, and you can bring a support person.
