Worth the
short run to
Parnell
Mount Eden is well served for most things. Here is what is genuinely different twelve minutes away — and where it honestly is not worth the trip.
A tray with real depth
The single thing hardest to find anywhere in Auckland: a fine gold selection deep enough that the choice in front of you is a genuine one. Over a hundred pieces of solid 14k and 18k gold, in studio, ready to try against your own ear. Browse the collection before you come in — but the tray in person is always the more useful version.
The fitting is the service
Jewellery is measured and fitted to your anatomy, not handed over in a bag. Post length, gauge, disc size and the angle a piece sits at all change how it looks and how it heals. That is a sit-down appointment, which is why it needs a booking. Read how a curated ear is planned.
Appointment-only, even for something simple
No walk-ins — not even for a single lobe. Your slot is yours, with no one else's piercing running alongside it. For Mount Eden clients used to just turning up somewhere, that is one extra step in exchange for an unhurried visit. Here is what an appointment actually looks like.
Two piercers, seven days, your choice
Thomas and Kat both take appointments and you pick when you book. Kat works Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays and is particularly good with first piercings and nervous clients. Weekends open at 10am.
When it is not worth the trip
If what you want is a lobe pierced this afternoon with no particular interest in the jewellery, somewhere closer to home will serve you perfectly well and we would rather say so. We are worth the twelve minutes when the jewellery, the placement, or an unhurried appointment is the point.
Platinum Point,
down Khyber Pass
A specialist fine piercing studio at 389 Parnell Road, Parnell — serving Mount Eden, Kingsland, Balmoral, Epsom and the wider Auckland region.
Pharmaceutical-grade aseptic technique
Every instrument autoclaved and spore-tested. Single-use sterile needles, never guns. The same sterility protocols used in clinical medical environments. More on needles versus cartridge systems.
Solid gold, in stock and in person
Solid 14k and 18k gold with hand-set genuine stones — not plated, not filled. As an authorised BVLA stockist we hold Auckland's largest in-stock selection, available to see and hold rather than order blind. The difference explained.
Thomas and Kat — specialists, not generalists
Piercing is the only thing this studio does. No tattoo side-service, no rushed slots. An honest opinion on what suits your ear, every time — including when the answer is to wait.

Why travel from Mount Eden rather than book somewhere closer?
Two reasons, and neither is distance. The first is the jewellery tray — we hold Auckland's largest in-stock selection of fine solid gold body jewellery, so what you choose from in person is a genuine range rather than whatever happened to be in the case. The second is that every appointment is a private slot with a full anatomy consultation, not a slot fitted between walk-ins. If neither of those matters to you, somewhere closer is a perfectly sensible choice.
Can I book a specific piercer?
